Ideal Body Weight Calculator
Estimate your ideal body weight using three established clinical formulas — Devine, Robinson, and Miller — based on your height and gender.
About this calculator
This calculator estimates ideal body weight using three widely cited clinical formulas — Devine (1974), Robinson (1983), and Miller (1983). All three use height above 5 feet (60 inches) and gender as their only inputs. The Devine formula is the primary result because it is the most commonly referenced in clinical and pharmaceutical dosing contexts. The Robinson and Miller results are shown for comparison. Note that these formulas were developed for clinical use and do not account for body composition, age, or athletic build.
Field explanations
- Gender
- Each formula uses different base weights and per-inch increments for males and females, reflecting population differences in frame size.
- Units
- Imperial uses feet and inches; metric uses centimeters. The result is shown in pounds (imperial) or kilograms (metric).
- Height (ft / in)
- Enter feet and inches separately. For heights at or below 5 feet, the formulas use the 5-foot base value.
- Height (cm)
- Your total height in centimeters when using metric units.
